¡Saludos desde Escocia!
Sé desde hace muchos años que James Douglas murió en España mientras llevaba el corazón de Robert the Bruce. La primera vez que visité Teba fue en 2010 para asistir a la celebración del Douglas' Days. Desde entonces, he regresado cada año.
Teba, su gente y el Douglas' Days son muy importantes para mí y me siento honrado por ser parte de este evento en su memoria. Las conexiones entre Teba y Escocia son fuertes y esa amistad viene del Douglas' Days. Siempre me siento muy acogido por la gente de Teba y disfruto del tiempo que paso en el pueblo y en su Castillo.
Cada año, el Douglas' Days ha ido tomando más y más fuerza: recreaciones, actuaciones, conferencias históricas, mercado medieval y hospitalidad. El Ayuntamiento y el pueblo de Teba han trabajado muy duro para que este evento sea un éxito y debemos felicitarlos por estos esfuerzos. Espero visitarlos por décima vez el próximo año. Hello from Scotland.
I have known for many years that James Douglas died in Spain while carrying the heart of Robert the Bruce. I first visited Teba in 2010 to attend the festival and I have returned every year since.
Teba, the people and Douglas Days are very important to me and I feel honoured to be part of your festival of remembrance. The connections between Teba and Scotland are strong and any friendships have been created from Douglas Days. I am always made to feel so welcome by the people of Teba and really enjoy spending time in the town and up at the castle.
Every year Douglas Days has went from strength to strength. Featuring re-enactments, performances, historical talks, the medieval market and the hospitality.
The town council and the people of Teba have worked very hard to make this event a success and should be congratulated for their efforts. I look forward to visiting for my tenth time next year. Thank you for everything you have done for James Douglas.

¡Saludos desde Escocia!
Soy Charles Halliday y vivo en la costa occidental de Escocia, en un pueblo llamado Greenock, conocido antiguamente por la construcción naval y ubicado a unas 20 millas (poco más de 30 kilómetros) de Glasgow. Pertenezco a The Society of William Wallace y tengo que reconocer que estoy encantado de que The Robert the Bruce Heritage Centre, ubicado en Renton (Dumbarton) y dirigido por los Strathleven Artizans, me lanzarán la pregunta sobre qué significa para mí participar en el Douglas' Days. Estuvimos del 23 de agosto al día 27 y debo decir que nos sentimos arropados desde el primer momento hasta el último, así que no tenemos dudas de que volveremos el próximo año. Durante esos días, mi esposa y yo tomamos cerca de 800 fotografías que colgamos para que todo el mundo pueda verlas y usarlas en mi perfil de Facebook.
Los tebeños han ruborizado a Escocia recordando a este caballero escocés con tres días de fiesta en su nombre, mientras que pocos aquí conocen siquiera su nombre o qué papel desempeñó en las guerras de independencia de Escocia. Tanto la conmemoración que el pueblo le hace con el festival como el monumento que aguarda harán que Douglas nunca sea olvidado. Es algo que os agradezco a todos. Ahora, con la película que recientemente ha estrenado Netflix, The Outlaw King, y la intención de construir en su ciudad natal, Douglas, un monumento, más gente sabrán su nombre.
Participar este año en el evento fue una experiencia inolvidable cuyo máximo llegó cuando nos pidieron que trasportáramos el cuerpo de Douglas por las calles del pueblo. Fue un gran honor. No podíamos creer que todo el pueblo estuviera decorado y que los tebeños fueran con la indumentaria tradicional. El espectáculo inicial, la noche del viernes, fue fantástico. Recorrí con el alcalde el pueblo y visité cada una de las casas y establecimiento que se habían dedicado el tiempo y el esfuerzo a decorar estos espacios y a ofrecer su hospitalidad. Algunas de las exhibiciones eran fantásticas. Sólo lamento que no hubiera un centenar de caballeros escoceses ataviados y recorriendo Teba con nosotros.
No puedo esperar hasta el próximo año. Muchísimas gracias a todos por vuestro esfuerzo y compromiso.

Hi there
Greetings from bonnie Scotland! My name is Charles Halliday and I live on the west coast of Scotland in a town called Greenock, famous in days gone by for shipbuilding and it's around twenty miles from Glasgow. I am a member of The Society of William Wallace and was delighted to be asked along to this years "Douglas Days" by The Robert the Bruce Heritage Centre from Renton in Dumbarton run by the Strathleven Artizans. We attend commemorations together throughout Scotland remembering Scottish patriots, the Good Sir James Douglas being one of them. I had first heard of Teba when reading a book called The Black Douglas written by David R Ross and knew then I had to come visit and pay homage to him.
My wife Margaret and I accompanied the Strathlevens to this year's events. We arrived on Wednesday 23rd August staying until the 27th and I must say we were made to feel so welcome from the first minute to the last and with that in mind we will be returning again next year. Between my wife and myself we managed to take around 800 pictures, all are available to you from my Facebook page if you would like to use any. The people of Teba have put Scotland to shame by remembering a Scottish Knight and holding a 3-day festival in his name - few here would even know his name or what part he played during the Scottish wars of independence. Your town remembering him with the festival and the monument means that he will never be forgotten and I thank you all for that. As for the festival itself, we had an unforgettable experience topped only by being asked the night before the main ceremony to actually carry the body of The Douglas through the streets. It was such an honour. We could not believe the whole town was decorated and the towns people were all dressed in costumes. The Friday night's entertainment was fantastic, I made a point of walking around the town with the Mayor and visiting every single house or business who had taken the time and effort to decorate their premises and partaking in their hospitality, some of the displays were fantastic. I am just sorry there are not 100 Scottish Knights dressed and marching through Teba with us. I cannot wait till ill next time, thank you all so much for your efforts and commitment.

Una década larga que se ha hecho corta gracias al evento que me motivo cada año ¡Douglas' Days!
Un día en el que se celebra un evento de casi siete siglos hermanando culturas. Teba se luce escocesa y los escoceses que la visitamos nos sentimos tebeños. Hasta los «enemigos» de antaño son nuestros amigos hoy.
Mi sangre escocesa se llena de orgullo que hasta un alcalde reticente al «Kilt» (la falda escocesa) hoy luce el suyo propio con el honor y garbo de un verdadero ¡Highlander!
El poder vivir y participar en un evento que mejora año tras año es un placer difícil de describir.
También es difícil expresar mi agradecimiento de poder contribuir mínimamente en este gran evento.
Invito a todo el que lea esto a que pase por Teba en los Douglas' Days, no quedará decepcionado.

A decade made short by each year looking forward to the Douglas' Days!
A day celebrating an event that's nearly seven centurias old bringing culturas together.
Teba becomes Scottish and the visiting scots become "Tebeños" (gentilic for the people of Teba). Even the "enemies" of yore are friends today.
My scottish heritage is proud that a once reticente Mayor today proudly and elegantly wears our Kilt as a true highlander.
Being able to live and participante in such an event is a pleasure hard to describe.
As it is also hard to express my gratitude at being allowed to make one's small contribution to such a great event.
I invite all who read this to visit Teba during it's Douglas' Days, you won't be disappointed.
